How Long Do You Need the Dumpster?
What Does a Dumpster Rental Service Include?
Let’s take you through the dumpster rental process to understand how it works:
Dropping off the Dumpster
First, we will speak with our driver to drop off the dumpster. You will want to plan for where you want to set it up. Choose an open and flat area like your driveway, front yard, or side of the home. Generally, we advise you to reserve your rental 1 week in advance to prepare. We’d recommend that you request it dropped off the day before because this will give you a full day. For example, if you have Thursday off and plan to do a remodel, you would want it delivered on Wednesday.
Filling up the Dumpster
Next, you will fill up the dumpster. Break down your items as much as possible to fit more waste into your rental. You can break down boxes, foam, and drywall, for example, to maximize your space. One of the simple ways to do this is to put the weakest materials on the bottom. As you add heavier materials over the top, it will compress the weaker things like boxes, adding to your space. After you put the weak materials on the bottom, add the heaviest. You do this because you don’t want to add them at the highest point. It could pose a danger if it overflows and something bulky falls.
We Pick It up and Drive It Away
When you hire a dumpster rental, we haul it away at the end and divert construction waste from landfills to recycling centers where it gets reused. We will sort through the recyclable materials as much as possible. The convenience and safety add to your reasons to choose a dumpster rental. If you happen to finish sooner than expected and want to get rid of the cleanup waste, give us a call, and we will have the driver come haul your dumpster away early. Otherwise, we will automatically come at the end of your 7 to 10-day agreement.
Where to Place the Dumpster Rental
First, don’t worry too much that the rental will damage your driveway. Our dumpsters feature metal rollers to bring it across the driveway safely. The driveway would be the ideal place to put it if everything else stays accessible, but if you can’t put it there, you could put it in the street. Before you can do that, you will need to get a dumpster permit for longer than 24 hours. Put it on a flat surface. Avoid anything sloped because as more weight goes into the dumpster, it could slide downhill.
Consider the Weight Limits
How much you can put into a dumpster rental depends on the size. A 10-yard dumpster can hold between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds, whereas a 40-yard dumpster can hold between 10,000 and 12,000 pounds. Weight limits exist because dumpster trucks can only safely lift a set amount of weight, so they set a limit.
